The Eye
The eye is an extraordinary and complex organ that allows us to 'see'. The brain actually does the 'seeing' - the eye is the 'central processor' that takes the information in the form of light waves and transmits the information into the brain.
In other words, vision of the eye is a function of the perception and interpretation of rays of light that pass through the optic media of the eye to focus on the retina and the interpretation of the of the visual impulses on the brain to form an image of object viewed. To have standard vision the rays of light must come to focus exactly on the retina (known as emmetropia), and for the vision to be comfortable the images formed by the retina of the two eyes have to merge and be projected into a single image to be seen by the two eyes at the same point and the same magnitude and clarity (Single binocular vision).
Eye Care Tips
Eating a diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables like spinach, red peppers, carrots could help to prevent eye problems and some eye conditions that can eventually lead to permanent sight damage.
Drinking plenty of water can prevent both your body and your eyes from becoming dehydrated maintain a healthy balance of fluid in the eye it is important to stay well hydrated.
If your work involves long periods at a computer screen, make sure you take regular breaks to allow your eyes to relax. Prolonged use of computer monitors can lead to eyestrain. We recommend using lenses with Anti-Reflective (AR) coatings available in-store.
There are warnings against staring directly at the sun, but on bright days your eyes can be easily damaged by the glare of the sun. A good pair of polarized sunglasses or prescription sunglasses will help protect your eyes against harmful UV rays.
